DayCare Supervisor

One of our client is looking for a Daycare Supervisors coordinate daily operations in the Daycare. The Daycare Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe facility, recruiting and training staff, communicating with parents, ensuring compliance with child care laws, designing the curriculum in coordination with teachers, ordering supplies, monitoring employee performance, and upholding the Daycare’s reputation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CURRICULUM DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION

  • Alongside teachers, plan age-appropriate daily lessons and experiences for children that help them learn and grow
  • Manage and support teaching staff and promote their professional development
  • Model teaching strategies and co-teach if necessary to impart skills to teachers
  • Contribute to the improvement of the program by sharing and using information gained from attending Early Childhood Education training and professional development opportunities

ADMINISTRATION

  •  Be available for work in classrooms as a teacher on an as-needed basis
  •  Model positive behavior for children, families, and other team members
  •  Review and implement the Daycare’s policies
  •  Develop emergency plans and always be prepared to respond to situations such as injuries, fire, etc.
  •  Monitor and report facility maintenance and repair needs
  •  Manage budget and logistics
  •  Evaluate and order required materials, equipment, and supplies
  •  Monitor staff’s interactions with children
  •  Manage teacher and class schedules
  •  Plan and coordinate staff meetings to promote ongoing communication
  •  Assist teachers in solving problems the teacher is struggling to find a solution for
  •  Interview, hire, and train new staff members
  •  Train staff in emergency care procedures
  •  Conduct annual teacher evaluations
  •  Maintain staff files
  •  Monitor, observe, and interact with children

HEALTH, SAFETY, AND NUTRITION

  •  Plan balanced and nutritious snack and meal plans
  •  Compose and maintain allergy and special dietary lists, and distribute to classrooms teachers and cook
  •  Monitor that the needs of children are being provided for including feeding, diapering, toileting, dressing, and administering medication
  •  Review medical and incident logs each quarter
  •  Ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children
  •  Ensure that Centre facilities are safe for children
  •  Ensure supervision of children at all times
  •  Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, administration, and Board of Directors

PARENT INTERACTIONS

  •  Communicate with parents orally and in writing regarding their child’s development, abilities, and areas of concern; explains program procedures and classroom activities as requested
  •  Greet each family at drop off and pick up times
  •  Seek and share relevant information
  •  Plan and oversee parent-teacher conferences
  •  Resolve parent complaints regarding staff performance

MARKETING AND OUTREACH

  •  Prepare and distribute monthly newsletters and centre activities
  •  Organise and conduct events to involve the larger community
  •  Develop and facilitate a marketing and communications plan

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Strong understanding of early childhood development and childcare
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  •  Bachelors degree in a related field
  •  Experience working with young children in a structured child care setting is preferred.
  •  Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand, sit, stoop, squat, run, and climb stairs.
  •  Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, the ability to delegate authority and to hire, train and manage staff
  •  Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  •  Friendly and approachable demeanor
  •  Professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic
